Ask any student during exam time, “How are you?” and the answer is going to be along the lines of “stressed,” “panicked,” or “tired.” 

Regardless of how old you are, the prospect of exams is always nerve-wracking. These times, students often tend to overlook the importance of a healthy diet and sufficient rest. So, they end up being too exhausted to even remember what they actually learned.

1. Stick to a Proper Sleep Schedule

Yes, we understand that you might have several chapters to go through, but forcing yourself through all-nighters is not going to help you learn them – at least, not effectively. 

If you didn’t know this already, sleep is essential for the brain to retain what you have already studied. Lack of sleep is one of the reasons why you suddenly go blank during the exam, even when you know you had covered the particular section the previous night.

2. Do Not Skip Breakfasts

3. Study With Others

You might have already heard that teaching others is one of the best ways to teach yourself. If you find a study partner, you can divide the lessons and train each other. This will help you save more energy and feel more refreshed after a session. 

That said, studying with others can be a little tricky. So you need to be careful who you pick. If everybody is not dedicated, it can easily turn into a chatting session. However, if you are able to find someone who is equally motivated, you are likely to enjoy the process even more.

4. Try to Avoid Caffeine

Yes, you might be relying on coffee to get you through the day, but ultimately, it is not going to help with your exam anxiety or stress. If you regularly consume caffeine, it can be challenging to stop altogether. 

If that’s the case, it is best to stick to the same amount you usually drink. However, try not to increase your consumption hoping that you will feel more energized. 

Alternatively, try drinking hot water instead. Yes, it might sound silly, but it can keep you hydrated while waking you up. 

5. Control Your Mindless Munching

It is habitual for many students to reach out for a pack of chips or chocolate when studying. It will curb your hunger and cravings in one go. But there can be a better way to tackle your lack of energy and binge-eating. 

Why not use this chance to take a quick break from your desk? Try to make a full and healthy meal – something that will not take too much of your time. This will help you make sure that you are not binge-eating unhealthy snacks for fighting the stress. 

Instead, if you have to get up and cook something, it will usually be when you are actually hungry. Also, it is important that you eat the food elsewhere, not on your study desk.

7. Get Organized

Lastly, make sure that your room and your study desk are both clean. Being in a neat environment will help you concentrate better. 

The best way to prepare for exam time is to set up a routine. It will be best if you start a few weeks before. That way, you will know which aspects work for you and which don’t.
